1. Purpose & Scope

This procedure defines the recurring cleaning and maintenance program for the six Narwal Freo X Ultra robot vacuum/mop units used to maintain the 20,000 SF factory floor.

Only one robot is deep-cleaned per week, on a rotating six-week cycle, so that the entire fleet receives full maintenance once per six-week period without pulling more than one unit out of service at a time.

Complete every step in order for the robot assigned that week.

STEP 1
  • Unplug the base station from the power outlet.
  • With a clean damp cloth, wipe down all exterior surfaces of the base station to remove dust and dirty water spots. Don't clean inside the base station yet.
  • Pull the robot off the base station and set it on its wheels on your work surface.
  • Press and hold the power button on top of the robot to power it off.

Base station exterior wiped down; robot off the dock, powered off, sitting on its wheels.
NOTE  Robots should be picked up from the back side so that the front end tilts downward. If the back end (the end with the mops) is tilted downward instead, debris from the dust bag spills out into the brush roll and falls out onto the floor.
STEP 2
  • Remove the top cover from the robot.
  • Wipe down all surfaces of the cover, including the rubber sealing area on the underside of the cover.

Top cover removed, showing the rubber sealing area on its underside.
STEP 3
  • Remove the dust bag. If it is full, throw it away; otherwise, set it aside for now.
  • Remove any lint buildup over the air intake screen located at the bottom right side of the dust bag area.
  • Vacuum out the area where the dust bag sits to remove dust and debris.
  • With a damp cloth, wipe out the area where the dust bag sits.
  • Don't install the dust bag yet.

STEP 4
  • With the top cover still removed, use a clean damp cloth to wipe down the top surfaces of the robot, including the LiDAR turret.
  • Wipe down the sides of the robot, including the sensors.
  • Use a dry clean cloth on the sensors after wiping down to remove water spots.

Top surfaces and LiDAR turret wiped down; sides and sensors clean and dry.
STEP 5
  • With the cover still removed, set the robot upside down.
  • Remove both side brushes by pulling them off—throw them away.

STEP 6
  • Pull off both mop modules.
  • Remove the mop pad from each module. Throw away the mop pads (not the plastic module).
  • Scrub both sides of each module clean with the sponge, then rinse clean under running water.
  • Set the clean modules aside.

STEP 7
  • With a damp scrub sponge and damp cloth, clean the bottom surfaces of the robot, including: all bottom surfaces; both wheel hubs; sensors.

STEP 8
  • Remove the caster wheel from the caster assembly. It is easier to remove when it is dry and your hands are dry — pull straight away from the robot.
  • If the rubber wheel is badly worn, replace it with a new wheel.
  • If it is not badly worn, remove both halves of the caster wheel hub using a flat-head screwdriver and scrub them clean.
  • Put the hub halves back together in the wheel and install the wheel back into the caster assembly.

STEP 9
  • Remove the brush roll cover and scrub it clean under warm running water. Make sure all dirt buildup is removed.
  • Remove the brush roll—throw it away.
  • Vacuum out the brush roll area.
  • With a damp scrub sponge, clean the brush roll area to remove dirt buildup, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

STEP 13
  • Remove the clean and dirty water tanks from the base station. Set them aside.
  • With a damp cloth, remove dirt buildup around the dirty water port. The rubber port cover is removable — make sure it stays seated over the hole.
  • Wipe clean the areas where the tanks sit. Vacuum out any debris if needed.
  • Return the clean and dirty water tanks to the base station.
